The purpose of Parametrics is to provide users a utility that facilitates the translation and transferal of digitally stored guitar amplifier settings to the analog control surface of the amplifier’s physical interface.This is achieved using augmented reality technology via a mobile application created using Unity and Vuforia as a medium in which to apply the digitally stored data from the user’s device to the physical interface of the guitar amplifier. Augmented reality provides a practical solution in bringing the digital and physical spaces together and is an appropriate choice of technology to deliver this practically in a cost efficient and achievable format. This technology is used to superimpose the augmented overlay onto the physical interface in real world space and is to be delivered via the mobile app, accessible to users through digital outlets including Google Play and App Store(Apple). 

The project accomplishes this objective while providing an advantageous foundation for expansion of scope and additional commercial outcomes including application to other physical interfaces, incorporating user customisation, social and community engagement, manufacturing and customer support integration, as well as application of the system into mixed reality formats for industry specific delivery.  As a musician, technology enthusiast and software developer, I have created Parametrics as a tool that realises a solution to a problem experienced personally and by musicians all over the world. As highlighted within “TheDisciplines of User Experience”, Interaction design and User Interface Design are at the heart of the user experience and must be embraced and leveraged to create an interface that delivers this human computer interaction efficiently.

Considering all interactive elements of the application, and the manner in which the user will interact with the interface and in conjunction with physical real-world objects, an intuitive and practical solution has been designed in answer to the users need.  Consultations during the design process revealed the magnitude of potential possibilities of the application, with recommendations of discretion during development, also calling for significant consideration regarding registration of the IP, licensing and marketed and publication moving forward.  Users that tested the application and reviewed the scope and functions of the utility were profoundly impressed by both the function and usefulness of the application and expressed recognition of outstanding potential, confirming the success of the project’s execution and realisation of value in future development and publication.
